Garden Decor, with an Aussie Surprise!

Garden Decor, with an Aussie surprise!

There's no such thing as trash when you deliberately place a recycled item in strategic spots in your garden and allow nature to take over..........within reason. Admittedly nature needs to draw on all her exceptional creative abilities to ensure her artistic flare is apparent in the finished product.

When old urns, pots, basins, wheelbarrows, wagon wheels, bikes, teapots and chairs are no longer effective for their original purpose their lives do not need to be over. Turn them sideways, lean them against tree trunks and plant some succulents in and around them and Voila! You have created an appealing work of art in your garden.

The rustier the better! Look at all that earthy rustic texture at the base of this old wheel barrow. Those plants are thriving in this manmade environment.

The workmanship of this antique wooden wheel barrow is indeed worthy of our admiration. I didn't include the bigger picture with the plants growing in it but this piece is a lovely feature in the Maleny Botanic gardens on the Sunshine Coast of Australia.

Flat tyres, rusty handle bars and a seat that would be far from comfortable to sit on, but the life of this worn bike is far from over. It rests nonchalantly against a post looking as if it was made for the specific purpose of adorning a corner of this garden.

And look at the beauty of this very old urn. If I was a snake I'd hibernate inside this cosy outdoor structure. Just as well this type of garden decor needs little attention for gardeners because is it very likely to have snakes living here.

Bromeliads and old teapots go together like a hand and a glove. Wouldn't you agree?

Now for my 'Piece de Resistance!'.........especially for my Aussie friends. An iconic, blue Weetbix tin. Not just your average one but a limited edition; no less. Now that's original and VERY Australian!

And after all that browsing, its time to take a seat. Oh......someone got here first and gave these plants first priority! Oh well.......I'll just go and find a rock to sit on but I'll be careful not to sit too long as I could easily be mistaken for an antique statue and get hosed on by the gardener when its time to water the garden. (lol)

Oh I love those! Rustic garden is my favorite and these are all so creative. Such a lovely photos Trudee 🌼😍🌼

Oh thank you Lena. I really enjoy discovering interesting objects like this. It's amazing to see what can be made out of rustic objects especially in garden locations.

What lovely photo's, the use of recycled items in the gardens are neat, it's lovely to see things reused in ways we don't normally think twice about doing.

Many thanks for your welcome visit and comments @biglipsmama I'm glad you enjoyed viewing these images. 💐

Weet-Bix?! That's an interesting name.

My mother uses random metal objects in her garden and it looks sort of like that... at least, when it's not covered with a half meter of snow!

Weet-Bix is an Australian icon breakfast cereal that has been around for decades. It is made by the Sanitarium Health Food Company which is owned by, or was owned by the 7th Day Adventist Church. Weet-Bix is still very popular and many households in Australia would still be using this product today.
Your mother is obviously very arty and sounds like a woman after my own heart. Lol.

haha! An antique statue! lol. I don't think so but that chair is too nice to be covered up, that is cool! But I have no idea what a weet-bix is!

Weetbix is a breakfast cereal which is very popular in New Zealand and Australia. They seem to have been around for centuries.......and I should know! 😁 😄 😁

ha! good one lol. You're funny. What is that like, what kind of grain is it?
