Stained Glass Butterflies.

I thought it was time to share a few more of my stained glass digital images with you. They were created by applying digital effects to my original photos and each one of them is so very different.

The first one was not a real butterfly but a photo of a decorative one. I loved how it turned out after the stained glass transformation.

LACEWING BUTTERFLY (Female):

The leopard lacewing, (Cethosia cyane) is a species of heliconiine butterfly. They are found in India, southern China (southern Yunnan), and Indochina. Over the last few years the range has expanded and they now live in the southern part of the Malay Peninsula, including Singapore.

LACEWING BUTTERFLY: (Male)

The male Lacewing Butterfly is orange with apical two-thirds of the forewing black with a white and oblique band lying within. The termen of both forewing and hindwing is indented and lined with a broad and black marginal area containing a lace-like pattern of white markings.

The female lacewing is similar but instead of an orange background it has is pale yellow and white in colour and its hindwings have more discal and postdiscal black spots. The wings are variegated with orange, red, white, black and blue underneath. In the forewing, the cell area is transversed with bars of black, bluish-white and red with white patches on the upper areas.

CAIRNS BIRDWING BUTTERFLY:

The Cairns Birdwing Butterfly (Ornithoptera Euporion) is the largest of all Australian butterflies. They are found in north eastern areas of the country from Mackay to Cooktown. The male is characterized by their bold colours of green, gold and black, whereas the female is black and white with a little yellow and she is larger than her male counterpart with a wing span of up to 18 cms.

These butterflies thrive in rainforest areas and they mate as soon as they are hatched as their life span is only 4 to 5 weeks. The females seek out ideal vines using chemical receptors in their legs and abdomen which gives them the ability to sense tender, caterpillar friendly leaves. Newly hatched caterpillars consume their own egg shell for their nutritious qualities.

The bright colours of the caterpillars, act as a deterrent to 'would be' predators and they store toxins absorbed from pipe vines. This particular species was, at one time threatened due to wide scale clearance of native rainforest and the spread of exotic vines such as Dutchman's Pipe which happens to be lethal to the butterflies in their larval stage.

When posting content that either is owned by someone else or inspired by someone else’s works, it is proper to list the said source in your post with a link to the original.

Failing to do so is considered plagiarism, and could result in being blacklisted by curation groups or even flagged.

Examples include:

  • Using another artist's original drawing/painting/digital art as a “study” or inspiration without linking the original and giving credit to the original artist.
  • Linking to someone else’s YouTube video with no source.
  • Using someone else’s photos or text without linking to the original source etc.

Please make sure you do so in the future, thank you.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention @sources because I, like you have a zero tolerance stance against plagiarism. @jaguar.force is quite correct. I omitted to include the links to the information I supplied for this post.

He obviously does not follow me because if he did, he would know that I make a habit of including the source of my research and am always happy to do so. On this occasion, I simply forgot, however I was able to easily access the sources in question from my notes after discovering your comments. Sometimes I am in a rush as was the situation when posting this blog and it was an innocent oversight on my part.

I have now rectified the situation and will make sure to be more diligent in the future to include my sources.

That effect is fantastic with your gorgeous butterfly photos. They are truly works of art!

Thank you for your encouraging comments and support dear Melinda. I am amazed at how the same digital effect can look so different on these butterfly images, and for that matter other subjects I have chosen using this edit.
