৪০২ বছর বয়স্ক এই গাছটি চীনের নানিং শহরের রাস্তার মাঝখানে মাথা উঁচু করে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে। কিন্তু রাস্তা সম্প্রসারণের কাজ যখন শুরু হয়, তখন দেখা গেল এই গাছটি সমস্যা তৈরি করছে। স্থানীয় সরকার সিদ্ধান্ত নিল গাছটিকে সরিয়ে অন্য জায়গায় রোপণ করবে।
সরানোর আগে গাছটি পরীক্ষা করে দেখা হল। কি অবস্থায় আছে? অন্য জায়গায় রোপণ করলে আদৌ বাঁচবে কিনা! ফলাফল এল অপ্রত্যাশিত! গাছটি বিভিন্নভাবে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে। রাস্তার কাজ চলার কারণে!
এখন উপায়? গাছ বাঁচাতে হবে। গাছ বাঁচাতে হলে গাছটিকে সেখানেই বহাল রাখা উচিত। তাই রাস্তা নতুন করে ডিজাইন করা হল। গাছটিকে রাস্তার মাঝামাঝি আনা হল। গাছের চারদিকে আরো গাছ ও প্রটেকশন বেষ্টনী তৈরি করা হল।
আজ গাছটি আবার নতুন পাতায় ছেয়ে গেছে। নব নির্মিয়মান শহরের অন্যতম আকর্ষণ এখন এই কাজু বাদামের গাছ!
