Cocaine on the Black Sea

Is it a freakin' Russian attack?! Well don't stop with only 1.5 tonnes of 90% purity cocaine guys! Push more!

Because that's how much cocaine the Romanian DEA got in the last month. And when I say "found" I mean "found", not through some long time undercover operation or some 2 months stake out. No sir! This was a plain dumb's luck and while the amount may shock you, the fact that 126 kilograms out of those were washed out on tourist beaches that during the season are packed with people is the cherry to top it all.

Now that's our "country's motto" for the next Governmental video add to attract tourists: "And how about fishing those one kilogram bags out of the Black Sea guys?! Romania: coke for everybody!".

It all started with "the finding" of 800 kilograms of this cocaine in an abandoned vessel close to where the Danube hits the sea, the city of Sulina. Somehow the cops were tipped off by something and somebody most probably reported the vessel being washed out in a pretty remote area.

Last week, a fisherman found 200 kilograms in the sea, as he was fishing. Practically the Police had no clue that apart from those 800 kilograms that they've found in the speedboat, there was another 200 just floating around the shore, somewhere.

Let's make a calculation:

if you consider that this 90% pure cocaine would be multiplied while diluting it, by a factor of 4, then we are talking about 800 kilograms of ready to be sold cocaine... this is 800.000 grams of this white stuff people would pay happily 50 euro/gram.
So if the fisherman would have kept that day's catch and would have gone into "the business" he would be standing on a 40 million euro treasure. Goodbye sardine fishing for him.

But he gave "the goods" to the cops, this being the spark that sparked their fire... They realized that there is MORE cocaine from this shipment that probably wasn't picked up from the sea by the "shore connection". How much exactly? We don't really know.

For the whole weekend now they've been roaming the seaside. And they're lucky. We only have something like 60-70 km of coastline. Imagine being Greece and having this happen.

And this all happening comes right before the season's official opening: 1st of May. Who can say that some individual packs (like the ones they've been finding these days washed ashore) will not appear in the middle of July, when people are packed like sardines on the beaches?!

The main attraction of the beginning of this season is the Sunwaves festival. Electronic music, for 3 or 4 days. You can imagine what happens during this festival usually. They're not eating vegan, I can tell you that. So apart from the usual cop roaming the party, sniffing for heavy stuff, there will also be the whole DEA department crashing the party.

Or maybe this is just a scheme to get the supply chain easily solved this year?! Who knows?
