Is is a precautionary measure for the well-being of the foetus. As Myanmar expectant mothers are used to abstain from taking so many items of food, sometimes they are under-nourished. They are used to abstain from taking red meat, and the have to suffer from protein deficiency and become too weak to walk. After the child-birth, they eat only oil-sprinkled rice and dried-salted fish.

က​ေလးငယ္​ဝမ္​းတြင္​း၌ အပူအစပ္​ဒဏ္​မ်ားကို ခံရမည္​စိုး​ေသာ​ေၾကာင္​့ျဖစ္​၏။ ျမန္​မာ့က္ိုယ္​ဝန္​​ေဆာင္​ အမ်ိဳးသမီးမ်ားသည္​ အစား​ေ႐ွာင္​​ေသာ ဓ​ေလ့​ေၾကာင္​့ အာဟာရခ်ိဳ႕တဲ့မႈမ်ားလည္​း႐ွိသည္​။ အထူးသျဖင္​့ လတ္​လတ္​ဆတ္​ဆတ္​ သားငါးတို႔ကို ​ေ႐ွာင္​သျဖင္​့ ပ႐ိုတိန္​းဓာတ္​ခ်ိဳ႕တဲ့ကာ က​ေလး​ေမြးၿပီးပါက ခ်ည္​့နဲ႔သြားတတ္​ၾက၏။ က​ေလး​ေမြးၿပီးပါကလည္​း ငါး​ေျခာက္​ဖုတ္​ႏွင္​့ ထမင္​းဆီဆမ္​းကိုသာ စားၾက​ေသာ​ေၾကာင္​့ အာဟာရခ်ိဳ႕တဲ့ၾကရျပန္​သည္​။
Myanmar babies are brought up by breast-feeding up to four or five years of age. Mother let her infant suck milk till the next pregnancy. When the infant is three months of age, mother starts to feed chewed rice by her own mount.
ျမန္​မာတို႔သည္​ က​ေလးအား အ​ေမႏို႔ကိုသာတိုက္​​ေကြၽး၍ ႀကီးျပင္​း​ေစ၏။ အသက္​ ၄ ႏွစ္​၊ ၅ ႏွစ္​ အရြယ္​ထိ ႏို႔စို႔ၾက၏။ ​ေနာက္​က​ေလးတစ္​​ေယာက္​ မရမခ်င္​း ႏို္​႔စို႔ၾကသည္​။ က​ေလးသုံးလ​ေလာက္​မွစ၍ ျမန္​မာအ​ေမမ်ားသည္​ က​ေလးအား ထမင္​းကို မိမိတို႔၏ ပါးစပ္​ႏွင္​့ပင္​ ဝါး၍ခြံ႔​ေသာ အ​ေလ့အက်င္​့႐ွိသည္​။
