January 8th a conversation with my friend. - Family and Friends helping each other for the better
I had a meeting today with my Doctor buddy who has developed cancer. We had a great conversation on many topics. Of course the main topic was cancer.
He has a blood cancer and is fighting the insurance company over a treatment. The treatment would help boost his tolerance in getting a common virus and such.
The problem is that the treatment costs $10,000.00 per treatment. It takes around 100 people to give plasma so they can make The infusion/ treatment . He would require a treatment every other week for 2 treatments then one per month. This of course doesn’t justify a denial of the treatment. What might be going on is an eval of the need for the treatment and or the holiday season slowing things down.
When you are ill it is critical to start a treatment or a way to prevent getting any sicker during the initial assessment . When there is a delay in any medical care it can put us in a negative mental state. (Anger,confusion).
Our medical decision are at the mercy of the insurance companies and government. After all this is the way we want it. We demand it. Be carful what you ask/wish for because you just might get it.
My freinds now like me, LOL, has to be carful to what he exposes himself to. I am glad to see that he is doing good. There are lots of concerns and it is a good thing to have someone you trust to have a conversation with. If nothing ever comes out of my cancer, I am grateful that I was able to help my friend get through and deal with his cancer. I am glad he reached out to me and we have made a commitment to get toeghter in a few weeks.
Sometimes we are the student, sometimes the teacher. Understand which one you are. You can make a difference.

So sorry to hear about your doctor buddy, hope that you and him could get over the cancer successfully. I don't have any insurance except that the government provide us. it must be hard even for the richest one to pay the bill like that. Insurance company would come to us when we're healthy but trying to keep off their hand when we're sick.. that's business!
That is the issue. Business. How to make the most from the insured then not pay for the sick. Yep
I have done a post about him before when he was on vacation in Europe.
It is really crazy that your doctor got this also. I think that you and him matched up so you could show him how to fight this. It is not good at all that companies that are making money have this power to stop helping him. Take care man and I hope he gets that teatment.
I am sure it will work out. I also think the slowdown with the holidays has an impact.

He is doing ok. This is why we have to get the best information about the cancer we have and not go off of hype
That get together is going to be great. And that he had the battle this at the Same time All energy must go to the battle against the cancer is so unfair. Hope your test today shows great Numbers eventhough its the beginning and normal the counts low than 😉
It is something how things work out. How we are all connected.
I don’t think the vitals will be to low. But you never know and have to keep a watch on them.

Many Americans sure like to complain about Socialism or any program that even resembles Socialism... but it's in times like these, where Socialism really comes in to help. The truth is most people won't ever be able to pay for such treatments, even after a whole life of savings.
If the Government isn't there to help on these occasions, we might as well live in Anarchy and stop paying taxes.
Personally, I don't have a problem in paying taxes, if they are used to maintain some basic services and help in the average citizen through hard times, illness or poverty.
I do, however, have a big problem if I see that I'm paying taxes just to make the rich even richer. I can't stand for that.
Socialism has never work throughout history.
My complaint in the post is about a corrupt system that favors selected individuals over others. Our healthcare system is regulated to that end. Insurance company and government with no responsibility or accountability by design.
No, it didn't... but there are several countries with some Socialist policies regarding Education and Healthcare and they work really well. I guess balance is the key.
However, expecting that an average citizen earning 10.000€ a year will be able to pay for such expensive treatments is illogical to me. It sounds like a Death Sentence.

When you have similar life situations, it is great to be able to talk to someone who really understands the struggles that you are going through... other people can understand and empathise to an extent, but it just isn't the same. Glad you found someone to talk to.
I am sure it will work out with The treatment.
It is Hugh to have someone you know that you can talk with. He is at the beginning stage and might not develope full cancer. He is dealing with the stigma of cancer and is starting to grasp his situation.
I guess you could call this a "bright" side. You get to meet people you'd never meet any other way. That can be a rewarding experience in itself.
