With a few exceptions, people go to places, virtual and real, for specific reasons. We go to a grocery store to buy food. We go to a UPS drop-off to return or ship something. And most people go to Google (our personal scapegoat and favorite example to prove many different things) to find information.
The best and brightest brands, products and companies know this. They tap into it with strategic plans designed towards certain people, eye-catching and memorable logos, bright colors and design, and (in some cases) clever manipulation of general human nature.
And then you have the little guys, like us right here. Why do people come to EDG? Why do (or should) they stay?
What is EDG all about?
Why We Are Here
“With great power comes great responsibility” the old saying goes (and no, it’s not just a Spider Man thing). With the advent of the Internet and the booming world of technology, power and information beyond belief has been set free—for almost anyone to use as they wish.
Similar, smaller power surges in the past have always gone through dark times. When metal was discovered, people could kill each other much faster. When the printing press went “live” the world was inundated by a swarm of pamphlets promoting false information (the original “fake news”) that was very hard to refute for the average person.
And now we have the Internet.
Our tagline says that we free people from the Digital Panopticon. Our blog covers a wide variety of news, philosophy, soundbites, and more.
EDG is here to offer a way out of the system of control that is gathering steam.
And we’re going to do our part to not only get out but to stop the juggernauts in every way we can.
What We Do

When everyone says the same thing, people should get suspicious. No one holds all of the same opinions as another person in reality. However, the Internet is very uniform; technology is good and those who don’t use it to do X, Y, and Z are backward, paranoid, against progress...and the list goes on. Even holding traditional opinions and theories that conspiracies exist makes one an object of ridicule.
Many of the other sites out there leaning towards an alternative point of view do raise awareness. However, it can be quite a mixed collection. Here at EDG, we focus on the ethnics and morals that underlie currently available technology.
Are they good? Do such devices and programs treat people in an ethical, honest, way? Are they neutral and fairly harmless, all things considered? Or are we being treated like rats in a lab? That’s where EDG provides a voice of reason.
Finally, we offer solutions to move forward in the world that we live in today. We don’t advocate jumping off into the wilderness or other drastic moves—we still have to live and function in the modern world. EDG offers practical tips, things to think about, and action steps to take today.
Moving Ahead
EDG doesn’t stop with the people here today. We are always looking for others to join in providing alternative points of view and solutions to the madness. If you are interested in our mission, we would be more than happy to connect with you and possibly incorporate your perspective on our mission.
