The European Union has told the US Secretary of State that it fully supports the international nuclear deal with Iran and called on the United States to show maximum restraint. Mike Pompeo held talks with EU foreign ministers during an unexpected stopover in Brussels. The bloc’s foreign policy chief expressed concern that the US strategy towards Tehran carries grave risks. Last week, Iran announced it was scaling back some commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal.
