Majority of the people in the world got a chance only once of constructing their dream house. They want to bring into reality all their dreams or visualizations, which they have gathered over a period of time, into reality. But every person does not have infinite or loads of money that all his aspirations about his dream house come true. As everybody has the limited resources so they have to adjust their budget for the construction of the house, according to the available resources.
During the construction of the house, the roof is a very major and important part of the building so it needs to be strong (as it has to bear every natural calamity) and as well as beautiful and eye catching. Many people emphasize on putting the best material for the construction of the house but due to the lack of knowledge about the materials available in the markets they ended up with the expensive but the cheap quality roofing materials. What is a roofing material? Roofing material is the outermost layer on the roof of a building, sometimes self-supporting, but generally supported by an underlying structure. The explanation of the roofing material is necessary as most of the people take it as the material which is used for the interior decoration of the roofs of the rooms. Many roofing materials like Thatch, Shingle, Ceramic tile, membrane roofing, liquid roofing, metal roofing and etc can be used. This article is going to tell that what materials are available in the market as the best roofing materials and what are their characteristics or features and how much you do have to spend on them. As there are thousands of roofing materials being sold in the market and it’s not possible to tell about all of them, so here only those materials are going to be covered which are thought to be the best option for this task.
1- Metal roofs are in high demand these days as these have many great features and the most of all these are durable and may last for more than 50 years. They look like same as the other roofs and you can get the metal roof in any color. Following are some pros and cons of these roofs:
• These are the best in the areas where it snows a lot as these are very good at shedding the snow as the dark metal roofing surfaces absorbs the sunlight to melt the snow quickly and efficiently. It also saves your energy cost as the metal roofs absorb heat and makes the inside of the rooms or house warmer without the use of the air conditioning.
• These are light in weight and are fire, mildew, insects and rot resistant as well.
• These are long lasting and manufacturers of the metal roofing, guarantee their working for up to 50 years and in some cases even more than that.
• These roofs are really strong and durable and save you the cost of seasonal repair and maintenance.
Cons of the metal roofs are as under:
• The initial cost of the metal roofs is really high and it costs approximately $150 to $ 600 per square based on the 100 square feet.
• The metal roofs are not for the people who are allergic to the noise of the rain as these roofs become too noisy while raining or if any other thing drops on them, the roof makes a really loud and scary sound sometimes.
• These are not for the houses in the tropical areas as the metals absorb heat really fast and it will make the houses like hell from inside.

2- Wooden shingles
are being used as a roofing material from the past and are still famous and being used by people as a roofing materials. Only thing that changed from the past is that there quality and beauty has increased as they are thicker than before and are polished for beauty and reliability. Here are the pros and cons of the following materials:
• These are really beautiful and make your house stand apart among the other houses.
• These are durable as well as these lasts as long as 40 years and if taken proper care than even longer than this period.
Cons of this roofing material are more than it’s pros like:
• These are much costlier than the other roofing materials available and these also require regular repair and maintenance which even increases your cost more.
• The wooden shingles detotiorates more quickly in wet and humid environment and are also prone to the insects like Wood borers, termites and etc.
• These catches fire really quick which is a biggest disadvantage.
• The wooden shingles are costlier than the other alternatives as you may have to pay approximately $200 per 100 square feet roof area.
3- Roof tiles
This roofing material is being used in most of the houses around the world and is considered to be the least expensive (most of the qualities), durable and compatible with every condition and environment. These are usually made of the local material available like terracotta and slate. These are available in various shapes and the most famous are Flat tiles, Imbrex and tegulla, Roman tiles, Pantiles, Antefixes and etc. The benefits of using these are as under:
• These are available in millions of designs, materials and have very reasonable price tags. You can choose these tiles as according to your liking.
• These are fire and insect resistant, and any weather condition like rain, wind, sun light, does not affect these and so these do not require any seasonal repair and maintenance.
• These are long lasting and remain in their best condition like fore ever.
It has only two cons:
• These are fragile and walking on them can break them.
• These are more complicated to install or fix initially and may cost more in this regard.

There are many other roofing materials available like fiber roofs, solar panel roofs and etc which are really in demand these days and do have various benefits for the users.

Just wanted to chime in and add that there are other roofing materials out there too, like shingles and ceramic tile. It really just depends on your budget and personal preferences.

I know this thread is pretty old, but I thought I'd chime in on the roofing materials discussion. I totally agree that the roof is a super important part of any house and you want to make sure you're using the best materials for the job without breaking the bank. Metal roofs are definitely a solid choice. They're durable, come in a variety of colors, and can last for over 50 years. Plus, they're great at shedding snow and can help keep your energy costs down. If you're thinking about going with a metal roof, definitely get in touch with Premier Roofers in Port St Lucie . They're experts when it comes to roofs and can give you all the info you need to make an informed decision.

I've been thinking of renovating my roof for a while, but I decided to do gutter cleaning first. It didn't take me long to find fascias soffit cleaning services for gutter maintenance, and I can say that for me, it turned out to be a real salvation. I highly recommend you work with them as well if you're planning to do a roof repairment.

A good guide to better understand the characteristics of materials and make the right choice, thank you! The roof is an important part of any building. It protects from rain, wind, sun and other elements. Some homeowners choose to do the roofing work themselves to save money. But if this process is new to you, it is always better to involve professionals in their field, you can find them here https://tharoofing.com/
