Apnea test results turned out great!

Two years ago it was discovered I have a light form of apnea (stop breathing while sleeping).

Since then I sleep with a MRA bracket.

It's the small plastic mouthpiece I'm holding in my hand.

It was custom made (covered by insurance in the Netherlands).

Of course, I blogged about it when I got it, lol.

A couple of weeks ago I had to go in for a sleep study to see if the bracket is still working.

I had to sleep one night with this device on.

I got the results today.

And I'm happy to report I have no apnea when I sleep with the MRA bracket.

I scored a 3.6 (from 5.5).

Which is in the normal range.

Normal: AHI<5
Mild sleep apnea: 5≤AHI<15
Moderate sleep apnea: 15≤AHI<30
Severe sleep apnea: AHI≥30

The doctor told me that losing some more weight could bring that number down more but there is no reason to see me again.

Fantastic!

I have a feeling I am going to have to talk to my doctor soon about this same thing. My hope would be they can just give me a mouth piece and I don't have to use one of the big machines. I know that if I could just loose some weight it probably wouldn't be as big of an issue. It probably makes more sense to focus on that!

You can always consider the sleep test to be sure. Anyway, Losing weight always helps a lot from what I hear regarding Apnea. It's a tough journey though. I'm putting in a decent effort right now with the intermittent fasting. It's the first time I'm trying something I feel I can keep up pretty well. If it brings results too that would be perfect. Time will tell.

Good luck!

Hi @exyle! This is good news that you are sleeping more soundly. It's a happy day when technology helps in this type of way. Keep up the great dedication towards a healthful lifestyle and it should all be good and groovy from here! I am glad to hear you are comfortable with the device in. I always wondered if these apparatus were easy to sleep with or not. ☀️👍🌻

They are pretty easy to sleep with once you get used to them. And I'm working hard on a healthy lifestyle. I hope to get some nice results soon.

That's really great news, congratulations. We hope to never hear such as a problem to you. Hear a lot of people die in their sleep which is as a result of so many things.

Good to hear about that now you can sleep comfortably ;)

Does it mean the doctor do not actually want you to lose weight again

Sadly no, doctors always want me to lose some weight :)

Good day. Congratulations on your good performance. I wish you good health and all the best.

Great news, congrats: Losing weight is still on my toDo list :) I hope constructionwork in the new house will help a little with that :)

Yeah some here, working on it though. Good luck with the construction work!
