Ever wonder why Facebook never issue their own tokens as yet?

Blockchain technology and especially cryptocurrency tokens have taken the world by storm. Many businesses are planning to create their own tokens [1] and some have.

Facebook surprisingly hasn’t got onto the cryptocurrency ICO bandwagon. The reason maybe that Facebook is exploring other alternatives to generate revenues.

Facebook is actively exploring virtual reality with their new Oculus Go which will cost $199 [2]. It’s wireless and with the low pricing might be a hit on the market if ever the economical cycle recovers. Many free games on Steam currently use VR technology.

Facebook Food and Delivery Service was launched recently in USA [3]. I’m not sure if this will succeed or not because it’s a service related to the food industry and not anything in technology. Other issues of concern are safety of the food and transportation.

Anyway only time will tell if this new venture will succeed. It’s out of the box thinking which must be given credit too.

My opinion is that Facebook will eventually issue tokens and use their current system of Likes as an upvote function.
