RE: Instagram 'Trusted Partner' Caught Harvesting Vast Personal Data To Create Detailed Dossiers

in #facebook5 years ago

Who'd 'a thunk it?

"Like many big platforms, Instagram has an API, or application programming interface, that allows developers to build services that can interact with its platform. (They're the reason you can save files to Dropbox from Microsoft Office or see your Facebook friends on Spotify, for example.)"

Hmmm. There must be a reason I don't use any of those platforms or apps. Oh yeah. It's because I am not one of their business assets. Since I do not consent to be chattel, I don't sign up to be chattel. On Steem I am (at least theoretically) compensated. That is more marginal, and more so lately, than it should be. There's a storm brewing, and either better compensation is forthcoming, or a data desert is forming.

We'll see.
