Gozo Trip - Finding The Villa And Dinner
From Mgarr to the Villa in Kercem
After disembarking from the ferry in Mgarr it was time to find the villa which took a bit of detective work but we got there in the end.
First off we noticed that there was a group of 10 young adults with a huge birthday cake standing outside the villa next door. Uh oh! 😱
We guessed they'd come over from Malta for the weekend, which did, in fact, turn out to be the case.
Fortunately my bedroom was pretty soundproof and, although disturbed by the noise the others were still able to get a decent night 's sleep.

The villa was fairly typical for Malta/Gozo - Sandstone bricks and lots of big wooden doors.
Most of them are converted farmhouses. That room at the bottom with the small grilled window would have been where the animals were kept.
Unusually though this hadn't been incorporated into the conversion so I assume it must just be used for storage. There was no way into it from inside the house.

Note the prickly pears. They are abundant all over the island at this time of the year.

After we had had a quick mooch around the villa we went to pick up my mum to take her to dinner.
It was a lovely surprise for her as she didn't know the kids were coming with us. She just thought it was John and I. 😁
And here we are waiting to order our meal at a

The meal turned out to be pretty average but the setting and company were stunning so I'm not complaining.
And then to top it all off, there was a really beautiful sunset as we were driving home.

When we got home we had a quick game of cards and a couple of beers and then had a very early night (just as the people next door were starting to party). 😂

We were really lucky with the weather this time @seanreilly. It was just hot enough to make me want to keep dipping into the pool or the sea so I got some much needed exercise.
it's been lovely here too, since we got back, apart from yesterday.
there were actually people on the beach again and swimming in the sea. In October?!!! 😱 😊

Yeah. I agree @janton. The building itself doesn't look too special. I should have taken a picture of the front door as that was probably the most interesting bit of the structure. But I didn't have my mind on taking photographs for Steemit. 😁
The view was beautiful though and there is a walk along the valley which John and I are hoping to explore next time we visit.

Indeed @tattoodjay. But we were all surprised to find that even 5 days in Gozo felt like a complete break. I was expecting it to feel a bit rushed but it didn't. It was thoroughly relaxing. 😁
