Proof Joy Conquers Sadness | Happy Birthday Lumina!

Today I wanted to share and celebrate the life of my little girl, Lumina Jubilee, she'll be 3 years old tomorrow!

Happy Birthday Baby Bear!

Lumina is our miracle baby. We were told she wouldn't survive after the womb, and then that she would not know our love. That she would only know pain, that seizures would fill her days, and on and on.

Then she was born, and God made her so much more than anyone expected.

She has a hard life: seizures, medicines, side effects, limited mobility and more but make no mistake, her life is not disappointing.

She is not broken or sad, she is wonderful, beautiful, perfect and we are grateful.

More important she is exactly what she is meant to be. She is as God made her, and that makes even the challenges worth celebrating.

So today I wanted to share Lumina, and the lesson she has taught me:

Life is difficult and sadness is a reality, because suffering is real, but despite difficulty, life is a gift.

The Secret is Humble Gratitude:

The trick is recognizing the truth in this: Even as we suffer, life need not defined by sadness or disappointment, life can have meaning despite disappointment and discouragement so long as we have gratitude, hope and joy.

Life is made meaningful because of joy and love, but to rest in these, despite disorder, we must stand in gratitude for each moment, celebrating joy and love and light even during difficulty.

It is possible: Do not doubt this truth.

Lumina is proof that life is not defined by sadness when we also hold joy, and we can have both at once.

Hope is what makes life bearable, and as long as you have that, you will have joy that overcomes any loss or sadness.
