KIDS ARE OUR REFLECTION: DON'T TEACH THEM, TEACH YOURSELF

A perfect proverb that exists both in English and in Russian because the truth it shows has no national borders, it's just the TRUTH.
Kids are our reflection, and if we want them to be good, smart, kind and so on..... we mustn't require and teach them to be so, we must BE so by ourselves, and we must teach outselves at first.
It's stupid to forbid a kid to smoke if you smoke by yourself.
It's stupid to require him to like reading, if you just watch TV all the time.
No sense to teach him be strong, if he doesn't see strength in you.
Family is the basis for everyhting in life: for our character, for our skills, for our perceprion of life, people and problems, for our ability to overcome difficultiies etc.
Parents are the mirror, kids are their unconscious reflection.
So what to do to?

A story to illustrate it:
Once upon a time in a small village a family lived: Mom, Dad, Granddad and a small Son.
They had poor life, they had to work from morning till night. The Granddad couldn't work, he was too old, too weak, deaf and paralytic. Moreover, because of his deseases, he did somthing wrong all the time.
Parents were angry with him. He irritated them all the time. They were tired to live with him and to feed him.
One day, in winter, Dad decided to stop it. He took sleigh, seated Granddad on them and they went to the forest. The small son went with them. He didn't know why and where, he just went for a walk with Daddy.
It was cold and windy, night would come soon, and it wasn't just a walk.
Dad had decided to leave his Dad in the forest forever and made him die there alone...
They went very very far from their house, Dad left the sleigh with Granddad, took the son and went back.
On their way to home, the bot was silent, and then he suddenly said: You were wrong to leave the sleigh in the forest.
Dad was shocked. Why did his son say it? And why did nhe worry about the sleigh and not about Granddad?
He asked: Why?
And the boy replied: Because when you're old and weak, and I want to leave you in the forest, I need the sleigh too.
It was like thunderstorm for the Dad... he realized what he had done...
He took his Dad back to the family, and never was angry with him any more.
He understood that his deeds taught his son more than his words.
Kids definitely are our reflections. Our kids personality shows our personality and home environment, therefore it is utmost important that children are brought up in a decent way, because they imitate everything their parents do.
How do you say the proverb in Russian? I will wait to 29/30 minutes to like 😎.

You are correct in every word. Kids start to learn by immitating thier parents. They lierally absorb their movements, speech, emotions and body language. Children can tell if their parents are happy, sad, afrain, depressed and so on without their parents even speaking. They become happy for the same things that causes their parents happens.
I once red that start to feel the emotions of their mothers when they are still in the womb.
