What type of vaccines usually protect in different age groups?

Vaccines are very important in promoting our health and health of the overall population. It prevents us from any outbreak of illness. The vaccines protect our body by providing active immunity protection against various diseases which are produced by our own immunity system. This type of protection can be prepared by inactivated organisms and toxins. We should ensure that we have got all the vaccinations on time to get maximum protection.

Below we shall discuss how much vaccination is necessary in different stages of our life.

Vaccination for 08 weeks age group:

For babies of just eight weeks old, single injection of 6-in-1 vaccine is given which protects the babies from tetanus, whooping cough, polio, hepatitis B, influenza and diphtheria. Other vaccines also include rotavirus, pneumococcal and MenB vaccines.

Vaccination for 12 weeks age group:

At 12 weeks, the babies are normally given the 2nd dose of 6-in-1 vaccine, together with rotavirus vaccine.

Vaccination for 16 weeks age group:

During this age group, babies are administrated the 3rd dose of 6-in-1 vaccine and second dose of MenB and pneumococcal vaccines.

Vaccines for one year age group:

During this age group, the third dose of pneumococcal and MenB vaccines are given, along with single immunization of measles, rubella and mumps. Babies of one year are also given first dose against meningitis C.

Vaccines for two to eight years:

The children of age two to eight years are given yearly flu vaccine though nasal cavity. It protects against flue and other dangerous complications which arise from the flu like pneumonia and bronchitis.

Girls of age 12 – 13 years.

For girls aged 12 -13 years, they are given human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, which protects against cervical cancer. The two injections are given six to 12 months. This vaccine is very important for cervical cancer protection.

Vaccines for 14 years:

The teenagers having age of 14 years are given single injection known as 3-in-1 booster which protects against tetanus, polio and diphtheria. Another injection is also given which protects against meningitis types A, C, W and Y.

Vaccines for 60 years:

For seniors aged 60, the pneumococcal vaccine is most common injection which protects against fatal pneumococcal infections.

Vaccines for 65 years and more:

For 65 years and over; yearly injection of flue is given. The people of this age group are at risk of flu complications such as pneumonia.

Vaccines during traveling:

There are some vaccines like hepatitis A, cholera, typhoid which are considered necessary before traveling to certain countries. There are also vaccines of yellow fever which are privately available.
