Hello friends of the farm in this opportunity I am going to tell you how to raise chickens and chickens at home.

WHAT TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
There are several points that must be taken into account before starting to raise chickens. No need to hurry, you have to evaluate why and how. Although it does not take so long to raise chickens, you will have to feed them every day, keep the place clean, pick up the eggs once or twice a day. That's why you have to keep in mind that if you want to travel or be absent for some reason you have to find someone to replace you, which is not easy.

WHAT NUMBER OF CROSSED HENS?
This topic is important. We suggest at least three to six chickens. They are very sociable animals. Keep in mind that they put five to six eggs per week, if one breeds four hens for example we will have about two dozen eggs per week, ideal for a family.

WHAT CHILDREN RACE I BUY
They can be purchased at local farms in the spring or also ordered online. When an order is made, you should buy a minimum of chicks because it is easier to keep the heat and thus not have so many losses.
If one wishes few chicks, it is best to agree with another breeder to accumulate a larger order. It must be specified if one wants females or males, but it must be taken into account that the roosters are more aggressive and that they are not very advisable for those who do not have experience. In addition, the chickens lay the eggs better if there is no rooster around.

ENCLOSURE FOR THE HENS:
Take into account a space sufficient for breeding, with a covered place, a place for them to climb, a chicken coop in which they are safe from predators.
For chicks, it is best to have an incubator with a lamp and the best that is protected at home or in the garage. In the absence of an incubator it can be a box, it is not necessary to be very large, it is enough that the chicks can move and eat well. It should be noted that the walls are strong to prevent them from escaping.
It is very important to keep everything very clean, with food and water at your disposal. And not to mention sanotarias conditions. The temperature must also be monitored continuously, because the chicks must be kept warm. The temperature should be between 32 to 40 ºC the first week, reduce 3ºC from week to week until the feathers begin to grow around the 51 to 8º week.

PAY ATTENTION TO THE POLLITOS:
The chicks should be looked after permanently, it is important that they learn to trust one. They should take care of predators, such as cats. They feed themselves with balanced food, but often they can be offered worms with which they will play before eating them. It starts around the second week of life. The vegetables instead better not give because they can cause diarrhea, which is very dangerous for them.

TRANSFER THE CHICKENS TO AN EXTERNAL HENCH:

They transfer when they already have feathers, provided it is not winter. At this point they change their diet, they give grains and supplements based on an oyster shell to supply the necessary calcium for them to lay resistant shell eggs. Always keep containers with clean, fresh water. It is important the interaction with the hens, since they appreciate the contact with the human being. Some may even be lifted up in arms, others may concur when you call them, it is logical that sociability also depends on the breed, but the level of care of the breeder greatly influences.

WHEN FOR EGGS?
Young hens begin to lay eggs between 20 to 24 weeks of age, usually five to six eggs per week, especially in spring and summer, which are longer. In autumn and winter they put less. They can be collected twice a day. Something that must be taken into account that the bigger the chicken, the bigger the eggs, and these can be white, brown or green-blue according to the breed. The production of hens decreases between three and five years, although they lay eggs during the eight or ten years of life.

EVALUATION:
Undoubtedly who likes to raise chickens will have their eggs fresh and tastier than those of the supermarket. They are fun to raise, the chicks are beautiful and tender, they give meat and eggs, they are sociable and loyal. After all, we are sure that they will decide to raise chickens and chickens!
