Hello friend of the farms is this time I am going to tell you the beneficial that is to plant a tangerine plant at home is an excellent fruit which has many properties. We must know that we can plant tangerines in pots without having a garden, so do not worry about the space. However, you should bear in mind that once it grows, the tree can reach up to 2 meters.
Mandarin is a fruit that comes from different species of mandarins. Depending on the variety it offers differentiated forms that generally resemble orange, although more flattened and smaller. In turn it is also less acidic than orange, it offers a greater aroma and its skin is removed more easily except in the case of very specific varieties. It is a hesperidium fruit formed by different segments with high nutritional value.

Clementine Clempons: is a Clemenule Clemenule variant although earlier.
Clementine Esbal: it is a fruit of up to 75 g, very easy to peel and without seeds.
Clementina Fina: are fruits of up to 70 g of great flavor and quality. Its bark is thin and has a very intense color.
Clementina Hernandina: its fruit reaches up to 75 g and is somewhat flattened. Easy to peel and present seeds only if there is pollination. It is later than the Fine Clementine.

MANDARINAS SATSUMA
As for Satsuma mandarins we have three different varieties that are:
Satsuma Clausellina: it is a low quality tangerine and little appreciated.
Satsuma Okitsu: has good quality and is of early collection.
Satsuma Owari: its fruit is small and has a light orange color. It has a flat shape and contains a lot of juice.

HYBRID MANDARINES
And finally, in the third place of the classification of tangerines we have the hybrids, which usually produce fruits of a reddish orange hue, a very attractive and larger presence. Its pulp contains a lot of juice and inside it we find a lot of sugars and organic acids. One way to distinguish hybrid tangerines from the rest is because the bark adheres strongly to the pulp, making it more difficult to peel them.

THE CARE OF THE MANDARIN
As you can see, planting tangerines at home is not a difficult task. In the case that you do it through seeds you should be more patient, but with a little effort and dedication you will see that finally the plant looks out over the surface of the earth. Now, once you have finished the previous step, it is very important that you know the care that will make the plant grow strong and healthy.

THESE ARE THE CARE OF THE MANDARINAS YOU SHOULD KNOW:

LIGHT
It is necessary that the tangerine tree receives a lot of sun. Therefore, it is recommended that you choose a place where you will be exposed to sunlight during the day. It is a tree that resists cold, so do not be afraid to leave it outside. However, in the case of living in a place where frost can occur in cold weather, keep the pot inside.

IRRIGATION
Vital when it comes to planting tangerines at home. This fruit needs large amounts of water, so when we water we must do it abundantly. Remember that you must guarantee a good drainage, that is, the water should not stay stagnant, but should wet the earth and go out through the lower holes.
If you have decided to plant mandarin seeds, during the first weeks you should water regularly. If you decided to plant the tree at your early age, water every time you notice that the soil is dry.

FERTILIZER
Especially during the first year, it is important to fertilize the land every 6 months. Otherwise, they often suffer from deficiencies, mainly from lack of magnesium and zinc.

CULTIVATE MANDARINAS STEP BY STEP
-Choose a container suitable for the type of mandarin you have chosen. Always try to contain holes in the bottom to facilitate drainage.
-Use land rich in organic matter and small rocks in the lower base for proper drainage. You can also mix the soil with a little washed sand to improve aeration.
-Plant the germinated seeds or transplant the tree. Cover the roots and press the soil on the sides, being careful not to damage the plant.
-Place your pot near the window, so that sunlight can reach it.
-Wash the pot when, when touching the ground, you feel the first inch of dry depth. Moderates watering in summer and decreases in winter.
-Poda shoots that grow along the trunk and cut branches broken or dead at any time.
-Try to keep your fertilizer rich in magnesium, zinc and iron.
-The general harvest will be between September and January in the Northern Hemisphere, and between March and June in the Southern Hemisphere, but this may vary according to the variety you have chosen. Tangerines should be collected with care to avoid bumps or other damage.

HOW LONG DOES THE TREE OF THE MANDARINE TAKE IN FRUIT
If when you sow mandarins at home you have followed the steps above, you will see how in 3 or 4 weeks the plant starts to grow.
The tangerine tree can bear its first fruits after about a year. However, in cases where the seed is planted, we can not know for sure how long the mandarin tree will take to bear fruit, because we do not know its genetic load. Before the fruit comes out, small white flowers will sprout, similar to the orange blossom.
Tangerines are small and sweet citrus, easy to peel and with few seeds. In general, they have a sweeter aroma than oranges. They are best eaten by hand or in juice, but you can also prepare jams, sweets and frozen sticks or include their segments in salads.

WHAT TO DO WITH THE MANDARINAS

With tangerines, as with any other fruit, you can make many delicious preparations that will give you that characteristic citrus flavor. For example, you can cook your own energy cereal bars or even make your own homemade mandarin liqueur. But you can also, with its shell, make crafts, like a candle that you can also make with an orange.

You can also transform the branch of your fruit into a new tree, and have tangerines as long as you want! Like the British people who are self-sufficient thanks to the planting in public spaces of vegetables, herbs and fruit trees. Imagine the potential of these small fruits and encourage them to plant them in your own home!
