Tanaman Cengkeh telah di kenal sejak lama. Sebelum bangsa Barat datang ke Indonesia, tanaman cengkeh telah di gunakan sebagai rempah-rempah. Cengkeg merupakab tanaman asli Indonesia yang tumbuh subur di kepulauan Maluku. Pada mulanya, bangsa barat ( Portugis, Spanyol, Belanda, dan Inggris ) datang ke indonesia untuk memperoleh rempah-rempah, salah satu di antaranya adalah cengkeh Akibatnya, Harga Cengkeh menjadi Mahal. Pada ke abad ke-18, setelah dibawah orang-orang Prancis, Tanaman cengkeh tersebar sampai Ke Pulau Madagaskar ( Malagasi ), Zanzibar, dan Mauritania.
Tanaman Cengkeh di ambil bunganya bukan buahnya. Bunga yang dipetik kemudian dikeringkan dengan panas matahari. Bunga Cengkeh.
