Disenfranchised USA.

in #fascistamerica6 years ago

Our government in the USA no longer serves the interests of the people. It has become a system of rubber stamps for corporate misconduct.

Our tax codes, environmental codes, our zoning codes, now even our immigration codes are crafted to maximize profits for a select group of people in power. This isn’t even being done covertly at all. The fox is in the hen house.

As a society we seem pretty resigned to the idea that our governing bodies are not acting in our best interest. We are largely content to wait for the crumbs to fall from the big table.

We don’t need more, just enough to barely get by. The thing is that there are quite a few people who now face poverty without any glimpse of hope. They are now sinking deeper into debt with an understanding that there are no allies in high places working for equality or opportunity. We live in a landscape of nepotism, and the back room deals which are being crafted will doubtless harm main street USA.

Our air is becoming poisonous. Our water is being poisoned. Our soil is steadily being poisoned. We are living in an environment which is being sacrificed for profits, but those sacrifices amount to suffering for people who are stuck existing in the toxic landscape created by the consumerism which is our economy. We continue using our planet as if there is another option for our habitat. It is maddening.

This system of corporate kleptocracy is unnerving. We are losing our collective shit over our lack of influence in our own realities. There is a feeling of powerlessness which is leading to this lack of empathy and an eventual civil war.

The everyday people of the country know that our democracy is crumbling. Our sense of panic is building while we are told to vote for change. In real terms the system has disenfranchised left wing voters. In the most recent presidential “election” the overwhelming number of votes were cast for the DNC candidate, likewise the vast majority of votes for senators went to the DNC. But the people who went into office were from the GOP. The redistricting was effective, and the people on the left are being given oligarchs to elect because the old money is so deeply embedded in our political system.

I believe most people want a better society, one which has more equality and opportunity for all. I believe we are more alike than unalike, and that our collective goodwill can turn things around. I believe we have the potential to create a real sustainable future which uplifts the most vulnerable. I believe that future is closer now than it has been before. We just have to get through the darkening night before the new day comes.

Hey thanks for sharing today in PYPT - glad I discovered your page.

I am glad to have you along.

Shadowa puts together a great show. I miss it when I am not there.

It's interesting, @sultnpapper wrote a 4th of July post that posed some of the same questions. I wonder what the solutions are?

Mutual aid. It's what pulled us through the last depression. We need to uplift each other whenever we can. We need to yield our goodwill to each other and never to the ruling class.

In essence we need to redefine society as a more caring and invested society.
