For this weeks entry, I went into my Archives again and found some shots taken I believe at a visit to Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport CT with our grandkids.

And her eis the Eagle, it was standing there quite unphased by people around happily posing for photos, I do enjoy visiting Zoos but i have to admit, I must prefer seeign birds and other animals in the wild than enclosed in a zoo, unless of course they are injured or for soem reason can not live in the wild.
Pentax K-5 250mm F6.3 1/90 Sec ISO 250

And a closer in shot, So regal looking but when I look at this shot I can;t help but wonder what it is thinking, I get the feeling looking at this image that it is deep in thought, or maybe thats just my weird mind
Pentax K-5 92mm F6.7 1/125 Sec ISO 560

And this last shot zoomed out a bit, mainly because I had three shots of it and thought I would share them all
unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

I would suspect that if it is in the zoo it can't take care of itself in the wild. At the National Eagle Center just north of me we learned that many Eagles get lead poisoning from feeding on carrion that has been shot by hunters and farmers with lead shot. The eagles end up brain damaged if they survive and are no longer able to hunt for themselves. Great photos of the bird, though. Even in the zoo they look quite regal!
Yes I suspect that is the case as well, and thanks for the info I didn't know that
Lead shot was banned 10 years for just this reason, but of course people with guns still had a supply of ammo on hand that they continued using. . And then Trumps Interior Secretary reversed the ban.
Some of the Ban reversals including this one frustrate me so much, I could say more but I don't talk politics on here ;)
I don't usually either, except it fit here and I believe we have similar views!
Yes indeed I suspect you are right :)
Great shot Jay...
Thanks Mate

Hi @tattoodjay, I love those Bald Eagle photos, great job! Isn't that a beautiful bird? Thanks so much for posting in Feathered Friday! Voted and resteemed. Have a great weekend!
Hi Keith and yes it truly is such a beautiful and regal Bird, I think thats all my archive bird shots so I better be looking for new photos to join again :)
Great shots @tattoodjay. I think predators minds are always like "food, food, not food, food, not food".
LOl I think you are right for sure
I agree totally, I would rather see wildlife where they belong, in the wild, but I much rather prefer a rehabilitation center to a zoo if they must be in captivity (I’m a little biased)!
Eagles are such regal birds... great close ups!
I agree with you on both they are such regal birds, and A rehabilitation centre is a far better place for them to be where they at least have some privacy and quiet
Nice shots.
I am a vigilant bird spotter, but for unconventional reasons. I have ornithophobia. Fear of birds. I have recently moved to the bush in the blue mountains, from inner Sydney. Many different birds. I knew all the different bird calls at my last place, those likely to dive bomb or steal my lunch. Here I am starting over with only the morning kookaburras making a mockery.
I committed to doing a feathered post last week, but like my walk posts, I didn't follow through. I also missed the free write.
Time to get my stuff in a heap. I like that you utilise other weekly themes, I might give a few a go to get into the swing of things.
Living in the bush with so many birds around much be a challenge, I post to a few challenges on and off, sometimes I find looking through the challenges list motivates me to find some shots or get out and get new ones
Have a great week ahead ;)
