Linda, stark naked, lonely lies on a cramped stretcher in the middle of the theater, her tiny legs spreading apart like a roasted full chicken. She groans. She cries, but Dr. Kola does not care. This is the tenth secret abortion he would conduct today, all for girls below eighteen.
Dr. Kola tells the chubby-looking nurse standing behind him to come forward. She obeys. He collects from her his sterilized tray of tools and grabs what seems like a pair of giant scissors and the shape of a banana. Afterwards, he gets to work, digging between Linda's legs until he is able to fetch some lumpy, blood-soaked materials. Soon, everything is settled.
This is the fifth illegal abortion Linda will have in the last two years since her uncle started molesting her. Poor girl!
Linda looked at the wedding pictures hanging on the white wall of her living room, tears running down her eyes. She had been married for ten years without conceiving. How would she tell her husband that the fifth abortion she had damaged her womb? How would she tell her husband that her uncle, the man on whose shoulders the whole world entrusted her safety, molested her severally while growing up?
