Peter couldn't believe what just happened. He was walking on the sidewalk, when a red car came past and splashed mud all over his brand new suit. He just picked it up from the dry cleaners yesterday, so that he could look good for his interview and now it was totally ruined.

It took him weeks to save up enough to buy this suit, because he wanted to make a good impression when he went for the interview of his dreams, but now, that whole idea was also ruined. He was so positive and well prepared, but in a matter of seconds his whole mood changed.

He felt frustrated and angry at the world, when he walked into the office building.  He didn't even see the woman coming through the roller doors, and they walked in exactly at the same time. This caused a total disaster and he pushed her elbow by accident, and all the files she carried fell to the floor.

He reluctantly helped her to pick up the files, and she apologized profusely as if it was all her fault. He let her walk out first, and went straight to the counter to announce his arrival, while the woman hurried along to the elevator.

He could feel everyone staring at him with his muddy suit, but he didn't care anymore. He just wanted this interview over and done with. The security guard let him fill in a form before pointing him into the direction of the elevator, and gave him instructions to get to the room where the interviews were being held.

The other candidates looked at him as if he was garbage. He felt awkward and strange, and at one point considered leaving, but it was his dream job and he would literally give his front teeth to get the position. He decided to push through the embarrassment and finally it was his turn to go in. He took a deep breath before walking into the office, and was quite surprised to see the same women that came with him through the roller doors.

She looked much more relaxed and smiled when he walked in.

"I have to apologize again Mr. Fletcher. I had a flat tire this morning and I knew that I had the interviews set up so I took my son's car to work."

He smiled and said:

"Now it's my turn to apologize.  I look terrible because a car splattered me full of mud this morning while on my way to the interview."

She laughed.  "Feathers don't make up the bird."

The interview went great. Peter felt totally relaxed, and they had a long conversation about what his involvement would be if he was offered the job. He felt totally confident after talking to Vanessa as she introduced herself earlier. After they discussed everything, Vanessa excused herself, and once again grabbed the files on her table. He offered to help her carry everything to her car and she gladly excepted.

He pushed the button to the elevator, and opened the door for her to walk out the office building. They walked around the corner and there, right in front of him was the red car that splashed him full of mud a few hours earlier.  She was the one that messed up his suit, but that didn't matter anymore because she was such a wonderful person.

He felt bad for being so rude to her when he walked into the office building, and walked home praying that he at least made a good impression. He was literally in the clouds when Vanessa phoned him that evening to tell him that he got the job. He thanked her profusely and told her that he would see her on Monday morning.

"You quite impressed me with your muddy suit." she said and laughed.

"I am glad to hear that your own handy work impressed you." he said with a smile before putting down the phone.  He had a feeling that this was going to be the start of a great new adventure....

I missed your story for a while, its good to be reading from you again

Enchanted with this story @giantbear, you have an incredible gift to write. I think nothing happens by chance, everything that happens has a reason and why, maybe your brain does not know it, you may never imagine it. But your heart knows it. Thank you for your wisdom, may God fill you with blessings.

Regards...

Thank you for the compliment. You have such a beautiful little baby I can't stop thinking about her...

I am interested in continuing to read your story, not all people have the creativity to create them, you have a great quality congratulations ;-)

This is called the causality of life, those circumstances that we have to live to reach our happy ending. beautiful microhistory.

Hahaha, funny and good story, and it can happen to anyone; It reminded me one day that I went to buy a pair of shoes for a special activity I had in church, I had everything ready when I left, I went back and took my shoes, the old ones and put them in my bag, I do not know why I did it . When I arrived at the church everything was arranged as I had left it and ready for the beginning, when suddenly I felt that one of the shoes broke, very quiet I put on my old shoes. Thank God I took them. A causality that is

Ha ha...the other day we were having lunch at a casino close to my house, and we had to walk back through the casino to get to the car. Then my shoe broke between the toes, and I had to walk out barefoot because I couldn't walk with the shoe anymore. Everyone was looking at this crazy lady walking barefoot through the casino, and I just laughed. It is far more comfortable to walk barefoot in any case!

ha ha, that's how warrior women are

That's a really nice story with some funny plot twists. I remember seeing a TV show recently where a guy was sent to a job interview by an angel and was forced to wear a suit even though he didn't need the job. He arrived only to meet another guy waiting to interview for the same job wearing the same exact suit. A car drove by and splashed muddy water on the other guy ruining his outfit. The first man realized he was sent to give his suit to the other guy so ensure he could interview for the job. It's funny to look at life situations and see how things work out in the end.

That rings so true to life, 'never judge a book by it's cover'.

How often do we meet someone, possibly not quite what you expected, to find out they are delightful.

This short story, rings true in so many ways in life.
