The date - A short story
Jenny felt pure happiness after she put the phone down. Finally, after nearly eight months of waiting, James finally asked her out. She couldn't wait to tell her friend Jessica and when she did a few minutes later, she was also thrilled. They immediately started planning her wardrobe, and Jessica promised to do her nails and hair for the occasion.
It all started just eight months ago. Jessica signed her up for a dating app. At first she was angry because she had just broken up with Tim, but when James came up as a match, she couldn't resist, and they started to chat. He was so handsome, and they really got to know each other over the last few months. They really became close and confided in each other.
He was not only attractive, but he also had a sense of humor and he seemed to know her better than she knew herself. They had very similar interests, and although she had never met him before, they constantly texted and on various occasions sent photos to each other. On each one, he just became more and more attractive.
At this stage they were really nothing more than friends, and she hoped that meeting won't mess up what they have. He had told her about his ex-girlfriend and she seemed like quite a character. They decided to be very open with each other from the beginning and decided together that they would not meet until they both felt ready. She had been ready to meet for the last two months, but apparently he was not, until tonight.
He phoned her earlier and they chatted for a while. Then he suggested out of the blue that they should go out on a date on Friday night. She immediately said yes, and then suggested that they go to a new Italian place around the corner from her. They both loved Italian food, and she could see images of Lady and the Tramp in her imagination. It would be the perfect setting for their first date, and she couldn't wait. She had no idea what she was going to do with herself for the next two days, but she had never in her life been so excited to meet anyone.
