Mercia quickly dressed and then went to the kitchen. She opened the fridge and starting throwing away junk food. She sighed  when she opened her cupboards and saw all the comfort food, but if it was not there, she wouldn't be able to eat it. She poured herself a glass of water and shrugged as she took the first sip, but then ignoring her thoughts, sat down at the kitchen table with her laptop. She searched for support groups in her area and quickly found one just around the corner from her.  It was clearly a sign.

Mercia took her car keys and drove straight to the gym. It was close to her workplace. She took out a membership for one year at a very costly price, and was introduced to her personal trainer. He was an odd looking fellow, but they assured her that he was the best, and that he was going to get her back into shape in no time. Ivan discussed a few options with her and when they decided on the best program for her she was off to the store. He gave her a list of foods that she was allowed to eat.

She walked into the house, a few hours later with everything on the list. She even bought a cookbook that would help her with the transition. She felt happy and motivated after her chat with Ivan, and made herself a salad for lunch.  She was surprised at how satisfied she felt when she finished her lunch, and she could literally feel the centimeters melting away.

She did some more research online and went to bed early. This time she did not cry, because she was too excited. She could hardly wait to get to the gym early the next morning.

Ivan smiled when he saw her entering the gym just after six. She really struggled to get out of bed, but she was adamant. She was ready and motivated, for what was about to come. The first session was supposed to be an hour, but it was absolute torture and after twenty minutes, Mercia felt as if she was going to die. She took a break but like a sergeant major, Ivan forced her to continue.

"No giving up..." he said with a smirk on his face.

She managed to last about forty  minutes, and cried her heart out while she stood in the shower after the session. She was sure she was not going to survive this, and she could see the image of her friends standing next to her grave.

She could hardly walk by the time she got to the office and felt as stiff as a fiddle that afternoon. She was not going back. She contemplated murder and she hated Ivan. She never wanted to see him again in her life!

She drove home earlier than usual and even considered going to McDonald's again, but something stopped her. She decided to join the support meeting that evening and when she walked in there, she couldn't believe the amount of people that attended. Most of them were very friendly and she felt right at home. They made her feel very welcome and when she drove home that night, she felt so much better about herself, and even considered going back to the gym in the morning.  She felt more determined than ever to lose the weight.

She fell asleep that night with very mixed feelings, and in a way she felt more blessed than she had in a long time.

I like how this story is going. It looks like a story that will end in a positive note. Struggles and sacrifices do come with success and we reap the fruits of our efforts in the long run.

Wow that was intense, lovely writing, do you like to spend time on this?

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

I admire her... wish I had that determination. I also clean my cupboard and get rid of the junk food, but it goes into my mouth hahaha.
