The Reason She Left

It seemed so strange to everyone who knew her when Ella left her home with a guy far younger than her leaving three children and her husband behind. The people who were in touch with her or who once knew her started to wonder the reason for her this behavior. Some started to blame her husband, some started to blame Ryan, the young guy who she chose to ran away with and some started to blame her saying that she is a cold heartless woman who never thought about her children let alone her husband.

Everyone knew her as a nice woman and loving mother of three beautiful girls. Her husband Nathan is an Engineer who was working for a Real Estate company while she used to manage the household. She was married to him for twelve years. Ella had no complain about her husband. After marriage he never had a fight with her, never beat her or not even stood against anything she wanted to do. Everything was going fine but after several years of their marriage, Ella felt that there is some emptiness inside her happily married life.

Even after having a loving family she was feeling so lonely and this lonely was killing her slowly. Nobody realized this not even her husband as he was always busy with his work and personal activities. She followed a typical schedule every working day. She used to wake up early, take her daughters to school, bring them home from school and wait for her husband to return home late at night. During the weekend she used to meet some of her friends or visit someplace nice with her daughters.

This typical life of her went on for so long that she even forgot to consider that she may have a chance to have a different life other than being a mother and a loving wife to a man who even forgot to care whether or not his partner in a marriage was happy with her life. She was depressed and her frustration with her life was leading her to do something terrible.

Then one day there came a young man who moved in next to her apartment. It was Ryan and the time Ella saw him, he was twenty-four. Ryan was shut-in kind of guy. He barely went out from his apartment. Sometimes he used to spend a couple of weeks inside of his apartment which led Ella to the suspicion that something had happened to Ryan.

So one day after throwing her daughters to school, she went inside Ryan’s apartment. He never locked the door and due to living next door, Ella knew that fact. The time she got inside Ryan’s apartment, he was playing the piano wearing shorts and a white t-shirt. His room was messy and full of paintings, books, clothes and other stuff. But among all these things a painting caught her attention. She came close to take a look because she wasn’t sure about what she was seeing. It was a painting of her and the painting made her think that:

Why a man living next to her apartment not even knowing her would like to make a painting of her?

When he asked Ryan about it, he went silent for a second then he said:

“You are that lonely woman who I always wanted to find in my painting”
