Wonderland...

Excerpts from my poem "Last Words"

John had never been one to believe in fairytales; he considered them to be the stuff of little kids, not to be dwelt upon by men with responsibilities.
So when he started having affairs outside his marriage, he had kept it simple: he had needs which those he had affairs with satisfied, and they had needs which he also satisfied in return. This arrangement suited him perfectly, and so it was, until he met Ada...

He still beats himself up till this day that he should have seen the signs, afterall she had promised him an Adventure to Wonderland. No responsible man should have bought into such a promise, but then he had wanted Ada for months, and this was on a platter...
So he had listened to his hormones rather than his head, and had driven straight from the bank to the hotel which she had texted him.

Needless to say, there was no wonderland. But then there was an adventure, one that left John without a car and six months of his savings.

The experience only made him doubly sure...

That Fairytales are best left for the kids...
