The eight FIFA World Cup, was in 1966, held in England between 11 and 30 July. England won their first and only world cup title, as they were the fifth nation to win and the third host nation to win after Uruguay in 1930 and Italy in 1934.

Four teams were able to reach the semi-finals; England, West Germany, Portugal and Soviet Union.

The final game between England and West Germany reached Extra Time, however England were able to win the game 4-2 as a final score.

Eusébio was the top goalscorer with 9 goals, followed by Helmut Haller with 6 goals.
