FIFA 2018. Ekaterinburg Arena (eng/rus)
"Central Stadium" in Yekaterinburg (Russia) was built in 1957. It became one of the main world arenas already in the first years of its existence: in 1959 the stadium hosted the world championship in speed skating among women. In the following years, the USSR championships in hockey and hockey with the ball were held here, on which world records were repeatedly established. The stadium opened its doors to football games between countries after Perestroika.
In the early 2000s, the Stadium survived the first reconstruction and restoration, a completely preserved historical appearance. But there was not enough seating for spectators for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The stadium was re-equipped, and renamed the "Yekaterinburg Arena" at the same time.
The number of seats increased from 27 thousand to 35 thousand. Additionally mounted north and south stands are unique in their kind. After the championship, these stands will be dismantled and the former name will be returned - "Central Stadium".
The works on construction and improvement were completely completed by January 2018. Test matches will be held in April and May. Part of the audience will be specially placed on temporary outdoor stands to assess their strength and overview.
Come to the match is best for 1-1,5 hours before the opening of the Stadium, to go through all levels of inspection: the scope of metal detectors, personal inspection and ticket check.

«Центральный Стадион» города Екатеринбурга (Россия) был построен в 1957 году. В последующие годы здесь проходили чемпионаты СССР по хоккею и хоккею с мячом, на которых были неоднократно установлены мировые рекорды. После перестройки Стадион открыл свои двери футбольным играм между странами.
В начале 2000х годов Стадион пережил первую реконструкцию и реставрацию, полностью сохранив исторический облик. Но для чемпионата мира по футболу 2018 года оказалось недостаточно посадочных мест для зрителей. Стадион вновь переоборудовали, а заодно и переименовали в «Екатеринбург Арена». Количество мест выросло с 27 тысяч до 35 тысяч. Уникальными являются дополнительно смонтированные северная и южная трибуны. После проведения чемпионата эти трибуны снова разберут и вернут прежнее название – «Центральный Стадион».
К январю 2018 года работы были полностью завершены. В апреле и мае пройдут тестовые матчи. Часть зрителей специально разместят на временных наружных трибунах, чтобы оценить их прочность и обзор. На стадион лучше приходить за 1-1,5 часа до открытия, чтобы пройти все уровни досмотра: рамки металлоискателей, личный досмотр и проверка билетов.
