Ephemeral

I was five when I came here; had a grandpa!
We didn’t visit often, but loved his simple ways; I was his gringa.
One day Daddy took me to a clinic.
--He can’t talk but he feels you.
--He’ll be ok?
--No, sweetie. Give Grandpa your best goodbye.

We have been saying goodbye to a lot of people lately. Friends and family are dying at a faster pace. Additionally, friends and family are leaving the country on a daily basis, an unheard-of occurence. But, when I read the prompt what came to my mind was the thought of a child who had to say untimely goodbye to a beloved relative. I thought of my daughters who did not have the chance to know their grandfather well. I can't fathom the pain of both not seeing each other grow or fade; not giving the other whatever is there to give.

--No, mi amor. Dale tu mejor adiós a tu abuelito.

Dear Sir!
Losing any member of the family is always a painful bait. Especially the member who takes care of us very much, who has taught us how to live, has left our happiness for our happiness. It is impossible to compensate such a member.
Life and death are two real truths of life, it is not possible for anyone to survive. Your grandfather also became a part of this episode. In the last time of Dadaji, you and your entire family were with them. Although grandfather could not speak, but family members could have been able to feel at ease. I think this was the right opportunity to say goodbye to grandfather. He left the the world infront of the family. May God give peace to their soul and give them space in heaven.
Regards

Greetings, @certain. I guess it is the same in every culture that parents and grandparents become the pillars of the family and when they leave, if there are cracks things fall apart.
In a family like mine, where many things are left unsaid, the absense of a pillar can be devastating. The new generations who did not have the chance to learn from the elders cannot properly perpetuate the values of that family.
It's like becoming a book to which many pages have been torn.

Touching. Losing loved ones is truly one of the hardest crosses to bear for sentient beings like ourselves. Hardest of all is when we lose someone younger than ourselves and the cycle of nature and fairness is upset in an unjust and unfair mannet.

Thanks for stopping by, @ablaze. It is certainly upsetting. The logic of the master plan, fair and timely is thrown overboard.

True story..

This is beautiful, @hlezama. You've captured that sweet innocence of a young child so well, as she grapples to understand that her grandpa's life is ebbing away. The expression comes to mind that it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. I do think that is so true. The pain of a final goodbye is terrible, and yet to have loved someone and been loved by them makes life so much richer.

Thanks, @jayna. It means a lot to me that it caused that effect.

better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

A phrase to keep in mind. It is comforting to look at loss in those terms.
