I've already written a handful of Shots related posts here on Steemit.
So not to repeat the info, I'm going to present you some films from this year's festivals official screening selection.

From out of 1350 films only the 20 best will appear on the big screen.
And we have 8 awards. :) Heavy competition.

Max Morrison (Žiga Pokorn, Slovenia, 1' 56'')

Max Morrison, a couch potato from New Zealand lazily watches TV, slowly being consumed by the programme.

SAND MEN (Tal Amiran, United Kingdom)

Neculai, Aurel, and Raj all left their homes in Romania for the same reason - to seek a better life for their family.
Now, in Britain, with their loved ones depending on them, they survive by creating sand sculptures on London’s streets.
They try to find hope in the hardships they endure, while thoughts of their children's futures keep them going.

HAPPY NEW YEAR (Brandon Grötzinger, Wander Theunis, Netherlands, 8' 51'')

On the last day of the year, a dispirited work-at-home phone interpreter has her moribund life turned upside down when she answers an unexpected emergency call.

2nd Class (Jimmy Olsson, Sweden, 13' 45'')

Charlotte is the new 2nd class teacher and when she is out with her friends she gets attacked by a nazi. After the hospital when she gets back to her school she discovers that one of her students is the son of that nazi.

The Woodkin (Mateusz Motyka, Poland, 23' 45'')

The Woodkin is a spirit of the forest, herald of change, the enemy of greed and gluttony. He punishes those who break the law of nature.
After ten years of absence, Krzysiek takes his son for a hunting trip where he does everything.

MODERN FAMILY (Teresa Hoerl, Germany, 30')

"Modern Family", tells the story of Manni and Renate, a middle-aged German couple, living in the Hessian countryside. Their life is turned upside down when a family of refugees from Syria is moving in with them.

HANDS FREE (John Addis & Matt Bowron, United Kingdom, 14' 58'')

The story focuses on Dr. Morris and his increasingly awkward attempts to conceal a painful truth from his wife.

On the Bench (Csaba Vékes, Hungary, 14' 58'')

The great moments of our lives often do not happen as we desire it. But it's still so sweet.
Márton is a substitute for a third-class soccer team, but he dreams, that he can run a professional career. He is passionate about this hobby twice a week when he does not go home immediately after work, where his wife and his little child are waiting for him. He goes on to workout. Because this is his freedom.
But this is his real conflict also, as his wife can not permit any hobby for herself, and she really forgot, what is the meaning of freedom.
Two tired people struggle for their own independence while forgetting the most important. That they're one family.

May Day (Olivier Magis, Fedrik De Beul, Belgium, 22')

In Thierry's living room, several people have gathered. None of them know each other but they are all there to try and fulfil the same dream. They want to find a job... and quickly. But we're in Brussels, so nothing goes quite as planned.
