Deadpool (2) Movie Review - a Suicidal (Anti) Hero!

Let`s start with the idea of a suicidal hero. How come a suicidal hero can be a subject of a superhero movie? And how come that movie can be a blockbuster?

Did you ever tell yourself, what a minute, I am watching a hero who wants to die?

Who Is Super Hero? How All That Madness Started?

The idea of superhero comes from helping those in difficulties, out of nowhere, like an angel. Meaning superheroes are angels in shape of human beings. So they never do anything bad.

Superheroes started saving friends in danger, then suddenly they started to save cities and planets. Let`s not forget to save universe too. After a while, all these stories start to look same and dull. We all know a superhero will save and overcome whatever he or she started, no matter what. That kind of prediction is unbearable. We already know how it ends.

So what is next? Now it is time to look for another kind of a hero. Different in shape, nope we have Hulk etc. Somehow different though.

Deadpool as (Anti) Hero

Think about a hero who is not happy with his life. When something bad happens he does not care. Sometimes he enjoys problems and bad things. He only takes action when he absolutely has to. Not because he can not but because he doesn`t want to. He does not care about our life and his life. He is suicidal. All these qualities turn an angel like a person to a human. That idea also destroys and bends whole superhero genre.

While he is weird, we are ready to expect crazy things. We open doors to every possibility.

Deadpool is a genre-bending movie. It is fun to watch him. He acts weird in anywhere and everywhere. He is not shy of being himself. He is naughty. He doesn`t care about ethics. He has his own set of rules. He tells us, as an angel like creature, we can do whatever we want to do and it is okay. That is why we enjoy watching him.

There are endless movie references in Deadpool (both original and the second movie). If you didn't see movies he mentions, you may miss the joke. Needless to say, all of his references are about making fun of other superheroes. He is not a serious person at all.

Should You Watch It?

Of course. Deadpool movies are different than all superhero movies. Once a while a movie genre faces somehow a different movie, that is one of those few movies.

I hope next Deadpool will be as good as first two if not better.
