Film Cyborgs (Review)
"Cyborgs" is a feature-length feature film directed by Akhtem Seitablayev about battles at the Donetsk airport, during the armed conflict in the Donbass. The film was shot according to the original script of Natalia Vorozhbit.
The film is one of the winners of the 8th competitive selection of the State Committee of Ukraine and received state financial support for 50% of the cost of the film in the amount of 24 million hryvnia. [2] The total cost of the film is estimated at almost 48 million hryvnia.
The premiere of the film in Ukraine took place on December 6, 2017 - the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
- The shooting began on February 9, 2017. Set is located in the village of Kryukovshchina in the Kiev region. Some of the material was shot in the Chernihiv region: scenes of tank battles were recreated at the Goncharovsky test site, and the aerodrome exterior at the runway of the spare Chernigov airfield.
- The consultant of the tape was Kirill Nedrya (call sign "Associate Professor") - one of the military men who participated in the defense of the Donetsk airport. A lecturer at Dnipropetrovsk University of Internal Affairs, Nedrya received a concussion in the airport terminal shortly before he left.
- The shooting was completed in April 2017, after which the installation phase began.
The film will tell the story of one two-week alert duty in September 2014. The group of Ukrainian military first arrives in the damaged building of the old terminal of the Donetsk Airport. Sergei Prokofiev.
Volunteer with call sign "Major" (played by Makar Tikhomirov) - musician and son of influential parents, secretly escaped to the war. He tries to understand his role in this war, the very war, and what will happen after it. Together with him, there are six more military men, whose prototypes are based on the stories of the defenders of the airport.
For two weekend film collected 15, 752 million hryvnia, the film saw 212,182 spectators. Thus, a new record was set for domestic films in the Ukrainian box office.
Criticism
The film received mixed reviews of critics. Some noted a weak direction and a weak action side, as well as a predominance of "cardboard" dialogues, while others praised the realism of the fighting scenes.
At the same time, the first deputy head of the State Committee for Ukraine, Sergei Neretin, emotionally sharply urged the film critics to hold their negative reviews about the film until the conflict in the east of the country is completed and the Crimea returns to Ukraine
