RE: A Prayer before Dawn (film): Not great but shows how tough Thai prisons are

I didn't understand what you were saying at first, but now I get it. You are saying that conditions are probably much worse than what we are seeing here. That is horrible. I think across the board we need to look at the way we prosecute drug crimes. My wife was reading a really good book a while ago about how drug charges are basically the new Jim Crow laws in the US meant to penalize the minorities. The information she used to share with me was really interesting.

I don't know about it being Jim Crow... it is just a (coincidence?) that minorities are involved in the drug game on higher levels than non-minorities. I think all non-violent drug "crimes" should not be punished at all... especially if distribution isn't involved or if the distribution is on a very small level. Going to jail for years because you were picking up a couple hundred bucks worth of coke for you and your pals to party is absurd.

I know a guy that got busted with a tiny bit of weed and this blemish on his criminal record (he has never done anything else other than say a parking ticket) is still following him today and he is refused jobs where children are involved. That is ridiculous.... it was 25 years ago and WTF does working with kids and enjoying a joint from time-to-time have to do with one another?

Funny how now that the government can make a lot of money on distribution of mary-jane that they are starting to not have a problem with it.

That is pretty interesting and pretty sad. Maybe he just needs to move to a different area? I work in a school and we have a huge grow operation being built right down the road. I have a feeling once they start hiring, many of our parents will be working there. The company even talked about indirectly donating money to the district to pay for students college tuition.
