Fireworks, Be Careful

Yesterday we in the USA celebrated our independence from Great Britain in 1776. So there were a lot of fireworks.

From inside my house it sounds like guns going off. Sometimes people take their guns and shoot them in the air.

Well, the thing to worry about is the falling bullets. I mean does anyone want to get hit by a falling bullet from as high as 10,000 feet in the air?

Some people here in California use illegal fireworks. Those fireworks would include firecrackers, cherry bombs and bottle rockets to name a few. Maybe in some other states those can be legal.

I have had a lot of friends that lose their dogs or cats during the times of these fireworks. Dogs can get scared and jump the fence when these fireworks go off. You would think that they would come back home later, but no, the owners never see them again.

I was just looking up injuries with fireworks. There can be a lot of injuries cause some people modify the fireworks to blow up. Another thing to think about is when you light the firework and it doesn't go off.

So you approach the firework that didn't go off and when you get near it or even have it in your hands close to your eyes it goes off. That is pretty scary stuff.

Even little kids with sparklers might accidentally set fire to the clothes of another child. It has happened. Also imagine dropping a sparkler by accident and someone or yourself stepping on it with bare feet.

I once had a friend that when she was a small child her brother along with his friend told her to hold a cherry bomb and he lit it and walked away with his friend.

Well, I was glad the none of her fingers got blown away, but she did lose hearing in one of her ears. I guess the brother who was young also thought it was a joke, but it had lasting damage to his sister.

I found an article from Insurance Journal with a title that reads, Fireworks Facts: 8 Deaths, 12,900 Injuries in 2017; $900M Sales Expected as States Ease Curbs.

Those numbers would be for across America. I would hate to light a firework and it ended with someone's death.

With our drought like weather here in California there is a lot of dry grass. That grass can burn pretty fast especially with the wind. I would see in the news that people actually got their house burnt down with fireworks.

Can you imagine just lighting a bottle rocket and your neighbor's house burns down? Just the thought of that makes me cringe.

When I was a kid I used to love playing with fireworks. Now that I am old I have no interest.

As for fireworks, it is probably more safe to watch firework shows run by the city or county.

Let the experts deal with the dangers.
