Friday Fishing: Report from Texas
Today’s fishing post is a report from Texas. I did some fishing this morning on Lake Granbury. My target species was Largemouth Bass.
I was certainly hoping to land a Texas-sized Largemouth Bass but that did not happen. I fished from about 10am to 1:30 pm, so a decent amount of time. I used a couple of lures as well as some night crawler worms. I was in a cove off the main lake, and I was fishing from a kayak.
My first fish was a Largemouth Bass, which maybe weighed a couple of pounds. I caught it up against the bank of the lake, near a rock pile... check it out:
My next fish was a Drum that ate the worm I had presented. This was a new species for me, as I had never caught one before. It was a pretty strong fish for its size.. check it out:
That was all I ended up catching today. The conditions were not exactly the best for Largemouth Bass fishing. First, the bite slows down in October in general, and second, there is a storm front rolling in, so the fish seem to turn off when this happens.
All in all, I had a good time kayaking around Lake Granbury and at least I did not get skunked (aka, no fish)!

Hehe, my wife did... I paddled back to show off the catch and then release it. Thankfully I was not too far away!
So, you don't eat the fishes. You release them after the photo. As I never fished, I did not think about the releasing...
Depends on the fish. In generous, I catch and release, as it is about the challenge and sport of it for me. I will keep some stocked trout, any striped bass (invasive species), and some ocean fish such as tuna. I generally release all smallmouth bass, largemouth bass and many ocean fish.
