Friday Fishing: Tides4Fishing

When it comes to ocean fishing, tidal and lunar activities play a big part on whether you will be successful or not while out fishing.

A buddy of mine introduced me to a great website named: tides4fishing.com. On their website, they provide a lot of helpful information to assist in planning your fishing trips, including detailed information on the tides and expected fish activity in the lunar cycle.

As an example, I was looking at doing some nighttime kayak fishing in a local harbor on 11/2/18, so I visited the website to see how it was looking. I found that it will be a half moon that night, the tidal co-efficient is average, the fish activity will be low. It tells me the best fish activity will be from 9:09pm to 11:09pm during the “moon down” movement. During that time, the tide will be going down, so that will help me figure out that I need to start more towards the shore, as the tide will be taking me out. Overall, it is telling me that it is not a great day to fish, but I could see average fishing during that two hour period at night. Here are a couple of screen shots:

Despite what tides4fishing.com says, I may still try to get out there that night. I would rather go out fishing and catch nothing than to have not fished at all!
