Yellowspot Papio for Dinner - Big Island Hawaii

I didn't have much time to fish yesterday as I had to clean up and fly back to Oahu so I just went to a park close to where I was staying.

I rigged up my rod with a pink curly tail and started whipping. I went to the place where I caught the big Moano last time but no bites.

I moved down the coast a little and still nothing. No bites.

I made one more move into a shallower area where I get stuck on the rocks a lot so it is not my favorite place. I cast out and took a slash it but the fish didn't get hooked. I continued to reel and then another miss. I kept the pace up and bang I was on. The fish took off to the right and I kept the tension on as I didn't want to get snagged on the rocks.

The fish then darted to the left and I held the rod high keeping pressure on. When the fish returned to the right I saw color and it swam right up to the waters edge as I reeled faster. One lift and the fish was on the rocks.

I dispatched the fish with my knife and packed it in.

It was a great day.
