Make a Long Term Goal

The first thing you need is a goal, where you want to end up, what you want to achieve and how you want to look.
Often when I ask clients what their goal is, they respond, I want to lose weight, get fit, tone up, get stronger, look like this person, have more energy, change the way I eat
………………..stop!!!!!!!
I feel confused and overwhelmed just listing,
How can you achieve one of these if you are trying to achieve all of them at the same time, especially when some of these goals are achieved in completely opposite ways.
You need to stop, think and listen to yourself, what is the ONE thing more than anything you want to achieve.

Why do you want to achieve it?

Choose the main priority the one thing that above others you want to achieve.
This is your long term goal for the best results I recommend that your long term goal be a goal that you set yourself to achieve in 1 year for today!

Awesome now you have an idea of what your long term goal is, you need to structure in a way to make it as achievable as possible

You need to make your goal Smart

A SMART Goal

It needs to be:
Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Realistic (to you), and have a
Time frame

As an example your long term goal is to lose weight you now need to make that as specific to you as possible.

Specific- So in a year you want to lose weight exactly how do you see that looking how much weight do you want to lose? What will make you feel confident? what do you want to look like? What clothes size would you like to be?
Make it as specific to you as possible but remember to also make it realistic and attainable in the time frame.

Measurable – so how are you going to measure your progress? how will you know when you achieve your goal?

Attainable – Is it attainable? how are you going to make it attainable to you? What steps do you need to take to achieve this?

Realistic – The goal needs to be realistic to you and your lifestyle. Know your limitations, It has to be a challenge and push you outside your comfort zone but also allow success with your skills and time available.

Time Frame – Your goal needs an end date, all goals must have a definite end date or destination, a goal without a destination is a dream!

As you are doing this you need to write it down and outline the goal on paper. It has been tested and you are 42% more likely to achieve a goal when you write it down.
By writing it down you are programming the goal into your subconscious

Make a Short Term Goal

Now you are going to break it down into smaller bite-size pieces and create a short term goal.

This is the first practical thing you need to do to achieve the long term goal and I recommend that this be a one month goal.
I also recommend that this be something that is new to you so if going to the gym is new and in the plan you are working from you are going to the gym 4 times a week every week make this your short term goal

When you have you first short term goal made put the long term goal out sight and put your short term goal somewhere you can see it every day
As soon as you have completed your short term goal re look at the long-term goal and create the next short term goal and repeat this process

Goal setting is not only to give you a destination a focus and something to aim for but a way of making the process as easy for you to follow and achieve.

Make Mini Goals

So to make it even easier we are going to set a mini goal. We are going to break the short term goal into smaller bitesize pieces.
Again I recommend a weekly goal

Identify your biggest limitation. So if like me you a partial to chocolate but as part of the plan you are eliminating it then make your first mini goal: this week I will only have 1 bar of chocolate and then have it at the end of the week as a reward for achieving that goal.

Every week identify your biggest limitation and make that the mini goal for the next week.
By following this process you are eliminating barriers as they arise, changing your eating habits, training habits and lifestyle on step at a time and achieving small steps that are setting you up for success in achieving your main goal.

My opinion about achieving your fitness goal is really "wanting" it.
If you really do want it you will achieve it. It won't be easy and you won't get it fast. You have to be patient and never give up. I work out for almost 3 years and achieved more than I ever expected. The key to my success wasn't the diet, it was the consistency. So keep going..

Yes you are exactly right I agree completely and I have so many more videos to make this is just the 3rd I plan to make them in what I feel is the best chronological order for someone who is starting out completely new

Thanks for the healthy information.....more of this in the future please.
