I used to think this way all the time and now I'm questioning it. Should we think we've fallen off the wagon to begin with? I feel like it causes psychological programs in that it makes you think, oh well, I'm on vacation, I'll get back on track when I'm home. It has never worked for me and I just feel lousy when I'm home. Perhaps a new way of exploring this is we have to think of creative ways to stay focused and on track while doing whatever.

Hmmm, interesting point... I guess it depends on the person, and how consistency vs. taking breaks affects you mentally. I know there are some people who stay true to their routine completely while on vacation, which I totally respect (and am sometimes frankly envious of!) - I just think that most people take a more relaxed approach while they're out of their usual element, which is why I approached this topic from that angle... But I really like the idea of brainstorming more ideas to stay focused whether you're on vacation or not - I think we could all use some creative techniques to help us stay the course!
