Gbelu The Hunter a short story by me

in #flashfiction7 years ago

The Leopard was crafty, he wanted the boy, he knew not how to get him. He was fast, he was swift, and he was deadly; but the boy was agile, he was alert, and he wasn't alone.

He followed them: the boy and his father; thy talked and laughed as they wondered deeper into the dense forest. They were there to check their trap, a trap they had set yesterday. They needed the meat the trap will provide, if no to cook it and eat, then to certainly sell it and make some financial change from it.

It was the father who heard it first: the snap of a twig. He turned, but that was just the moment the leopard needed to plunge for the boy. However, the kid didn't make it an easy job as he had anticipated, in fact, the twig wasn't on his side either.

The Leopard landed safely on the other side, free of his prey: the boy had ducked in the last second, and had prevented him his victory. He turned to dash for another hit, but the boys father was a fast hunter; his earlier error was all the time in the world the father needed, and now the Leopard supplied itself a meal before him. The father wasted no time to bring its carnivorous head down to the earth. A blast was all it took.
