Flood in Central Myanmar
Because of heavy rain in recent days, Swar Dam collapsed and area in Swar Township is flooded.
More than 50,000 people have evacuated their homes.
A bridge on the Yangon-Mandalay Highway express is damaged because of the flood, and transportation of people and goods become difficult since 29th August. The water was 3 feet (90 centimetres) deep in some urban areas of Swar.
Rescue and help is on their way. Over 5,400 people have moved to monasteries and safe areas in Yedashe township. We still need a lot of volunteers and donations for relief efforts of flood victims. Heavy rain is still continuing.
