My entry for the 🌸 FLOWER POWER PHOTO CONTEST BY FLAMINGIRL 🌸

in #flowerpower5 years ago (edited)

I am so late with this submission because yesterday was a hectic day and I have missed the submission deadline yesterday. However, I will just submit this one to complete my 7th and final submission to #flowerpower photo contest by @flamingirl. Go go #FlowerPower! To date I have got daisy bouquets, then some gorgeous charming water lilies, then yellow orchids, colorful lantana, purple orchids and number 6 was Dahlia. It is quite interesting to actually fill your 7 days with flowers. I feel that blogging this week with this activity decorates my steemit walls. Lovely activities last week and thank you @Flamingirl for steeming this topic :D

I participated in this contest, largely was to make myself busy blogging aside from joining this wonderful contest by @flamingirl. I feel that the biggest challenge to all bloggers is finding the blogging ideas of what to blog. Even you have some photos, just sometimes what to write when you are posting those photos and just to make sure you don't just post blank photo blogs that might bore some readers of your blogs right.

Day 7 (Sunday, April 14th): Jacaranda mimosifolia

The carpenter bee was visiting his favorite flower. Jacaranda and the bee were old friends and have always been seen together.

About Jacaranda mimosifolia Source

Jacaranda mimosifolia is a sub-tropical tree native to south-central South America that has been widely planted elsewhere because of its attractive and long-lasting pale indigo flowers.

Popular culture references Source

Pretoria, the administrative capital of South Africa is popularly and poetically known as Jacaranda City or Jakarandastad in Afrikaans because of the large number of trees which turn the city blue when they flower in spring. The name Jakarandastad is frequently used in Afrikaans songs, such as in Staan Op by Kurt Darren.

The Australian Christmas song Christmas Where The Gum Trees Grow makes reference to jacaranda trees, as the blooms are only seen in summer time—as the song explains, "When the bloom of the jacaranda tree is here, Christmas time is near".[9] The University of Queensland in Brisbane is particularly well known for its ornamental jacarandas, and a common maxim among students holds that the blooming of the jacarandas signals the time for serious study for end-of-year exams.[10]

In Argentina, writer Alejandro Dolina, in his book Crónicas del Ángel Gris ("Chronicles of the Gray Angel"), tells the legend of a massive jacarandá tree planted in Plaza Flores (Flores Square) in Buenos Aires, which was able to whistle tango songs on demand. María Elena Walsh dedicated her Canción del Jacarandá song to the tree. Also Miguel Brascó's folk song Santafesino de veras mentions the aroma of jacarandá as a defining feature of the littoral Santa Fe Province (along with the willows growing by the rivers).

British singer songwriter Steve Tilston eulogizes the beautiful blue tree he encountered in Australia with his song "Jacaranda" (track 11 on his album Ziggurat, 2008). Source
