'Easter Cassia Flowers.'

I am submitting the first image in this blog is my entry for 🌸 FLOWER POWER PHOTO CONTEST BY FLAMINGIRL.

The Easter Cassia (Senna Pendula) are a native of South America. The flowers are bright yellow in colour and are borne in leafy clusters at the tips of their branches.

As beautiful as they appear, they are considered a weed in New South Wales and Queensland due to their vigorous seeding capabilities which smother other native plants. They were given the name Easter Cassias because they are in full bloom around Easter time which is autumn in Queensland.

These plants are characterized by their showy, evergreen appearance which grow into scrambling shrubs which measure up to 3 m in height. Their bright yellow flowers are satiny smooth and make an impressive contrast to their green foliage particularly in the autumn months. The Easter Cassia plants produce cylindrical, green pods which are followed by an abundance of seeds.

Their seeds are spread by insects, birds, water and gravity and due to their prolific nature, the ones that fall to the ground increases their unwelcome invasion when crowding our other plants.

Thanks so much for your kind visit and comments @ligayagardener Greatly appreciated. 💐

Very strong yellow flowers! It’s rather big, up to 3 meters high! But they are very attractive looking! Where is the pod?!

Yes @kaminchan The yellow is a deep butter yellow and very hard to miss. The pods were not visible in these photos probably because they are seen more easily after the flowering season. Thanks so much for visiting. Have a wonderful weekend. 😊
