Ulog #191: Kuih Lapis - Malaysian Tasty Treats
Here is the Malaysian snack / dessert that everyone knowns and loves. It's the kuih lapis which is a layered cake but the texture is not so much of a sponge cake but a springy dough-like consistency.
It's sweet and has pandan flavor in it. The color comes from edible food coloring basically which gives it it's layered look. Of course any color can be added but it's already a known color for the kuih lapis to be in a pinkish red hue that everyone is familiar with
The one behind in this picture of yellow color is another local tasty treat which is made out of sweet potato and has a firmer texture compared to the kuih lapis. It's equally as delicious but I'll put my money on the kuih lapis any day.
This one was done for the BMW catering we did recently and they wanted an assorted variety of local sweet snacks so we gave them this 2. This would have been our first time catering local desserts and we're sure to include it in our catering menu as one of the options from now on.
