Chili with Fried Cassava and Cheddar Cheese

Ingredients

For the chili

  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 big green pepper
  • 1 big red pepper
  • 2 cups of premade beans
  • salt
  • cheddar cheese

For the cassava

  • 2 pounds of cassava
  • 6 leaves of culantro (or 1/2 cup of coriander)
  • 1/2 cup of chives
  • butter
  • salt

Instructions

For the chili

  1. Mix the ground beef, the chopped green and red peppers, and salt. Cook them in a boiling pot for around 20 minutes.
  2. Add the premade beans. Probably they are cold if you had them in the fridge, you should heat them around 10 minutes then.

For the cassava

  1. Peel the cassava a boil it with salt until tender. It should take around 20 minutes. When tender turn off the stove.
  2. Preheat a pan and add the butter. Try not to heat it too much as butter can burn rather quickly.
  3. Add the cassava, the chopped culantro and chives.
  4. Stir fry until a you see a light brown color in the cassava.

Serving

The cassava and the chili should be ready around the same time. When they are ready serve them in a dish and grate cheddar cheese over them.
