Consuming Sweet Nigerian Foods: Introducing Okra Soup

in #food6 years ago

Ila Alasepo is a special type of Nigerian soup that is loved by so many and it is best when served hot and garnished properly with the right ingredients.

Some people like to have their okra prepared in a simple and plain manner and what I mean by that is that after slicing the okra, they just simply add a little bit of salt and water and cook it for a few minutes, when it is good for consumption, it starts drawing and there is usually a differnce in the taste and look.

The only thing with cooking it this way is that you need to get a stew to eat it with because it cannot be eaten in the way it is prepared.
I am however not disputing the fact that some people eat it that way, but personally I think eating it that way will only make you feel like throwing up.

The main type of preparation of okra I am talking about today is the one that can be consumed on it's own without any extra stew.
This type of okra is known in the usual way to be called Ila Alasepo.

To Prepare Ila Alasepo.

Make sure you slice the okra and set aside, get your little palm oil ready, get your seasoning ready, you might need a little locust bean (if you like the smell and taste), make sure you boil your meat before hand .
Place your neatly sliced okra into a neat pot with a little quantity of water and set on a medium heat.
After some time, add your palm oil, seasonings, then your already boiled meat and fish.
Leave for sometime and check again to see if the taste is okay and it is good for consumption,
Then you have your Ila Alasepo ready to be eaten. I will show you pictures to emphasize my point.
