The colour of your plate affect of how much you will eat?

Does it really the colour of your plate affect of how much you will eat?
I think this is an interesting subject to write about.
I remember in one episode, don't know the name of episode anymore, it was a while back, they mentioned that if you plan on eating less, you should eat from a red plate, and they also say that you should not sit at the side of the table, but you should rather at the head, because then you are not surrounded by food all the time, and you have to actually get up every time or must every time ask people to pass the food …
Sounds weird but I decided to research a bit.
The plate size is important, as over the years the plates have become larger and larger, so I recommend to choose smaller plates for a start.
I read in one article that the colour contrast between colour of plate and colour of food creates an optical illusion it makes you eat up more than you actually intended to.
So by example when eating the pasta with a white sauce on a white plate, that will make you take more than if say you dished up on a red or any contrasting colour plate, extremely interesting.
The answer then is, choose the colour of your plate wisely if you want to eat less, choose a bright contrasting colour, if you want to have a good meal that leaves you wanting more, eat from a plate that are more or less the same colour as colour of your food.
