Have something local~ the food I had when I travelled...

in #food7 years ago

For the longest time people are talking about being vegetarian, stop killing of animals, etc... but then again, if the whole world becomes vegetarian, it would greatly disrupt the ecosystem. We humans are animals too, top of the chain most of the time. If we stop eating meat, imagine what would happen under the chain? Please let me justify my love for food, not just the greens haha... I do not agree to cutting of sharks' fins and throw the carcasses into the sea, I don't agree to mass destruction of whatever kinds of animals for meat and body parts, but that doesn't mean we can't eat like civilized people. Not that vegetarians aren't civilized. I just don't like to be judged for what I eat.

I don't kid around food. I've seen people play with food, pick on their food, I'm like wth? I've seen people throw untouched food in the trash, wth? If you do not appreciate the taste of food, at least appreciate the effort of the cook, however unwilling he/she is to cook lol. When I travel, I spent the most on food haha~ I forgot where those pictures of my Taiwan trip went~ food there were delicious too. But let's start with Okinawa~

I wouldn't normally say I'm a risk taker, but I did try fried insects in Thailand haha~ but there are things I don't think I'd like, like this one, a kind of fresh water fish with some funny tasting vegetable. Here... tried it in Saraburi, Thailand.

Vietnam had some funny tasting stuff too, but mixed with pork, that was alright haha~ this was a dish made by the locals, for the locals. I didn't know the name though...

When I got to Germany, one of the best meals I had were by locals...

food_teammalaysia_foodporn_randomthoughts_dibbelabbes.JPG This is called dibbelabbes, sort of like Potato Rosti, made from Potatoes, with bacon bits and a little bit of chives, or was it spring onions? lol... whichever, it was delicious!

food_teammalaysia_foodporn_randomthoughts_lentilsoup.JPG This is lentil soup~ a meal on its own with bits of meat or bacon, cubes of potatoes, carrots and of course the lentils.

food_teammalaysia_foodporn_randomthoughts_couscous.JPG
Was in Forbach, France, and had Moroccan couscous for dinner... with some shish kebab

food_teammalaysia_foodporn_randomthoughts_flambee.JPG And this was an Alsatian Pizza called the flambée, I had this in Haguenau when I travelled there to meet friends.

Then it was the strawberry and asparagus season, so I had some too~ apparently asparagus goes well with ham...

food_teammalaysia_foodporn_randomthoughts_lobster.JPG While working in Abu Dhabi, went to a buffet dinner in a hotel and they serve lobsters... all you can eat~

Back in Germany in time for blackberries season, so I was berry picking one day...

But nothing beats this delicious little piece of raw meat... steak tartar, served simply with an egg yolk on top with fresh onions and a slab of butter with bread~ yummy!

Wow... You actually travelled to A LOT OF PLACES!
When I saw the stake tartar at the last picture. Immediately I remembered an episode from Mr. Bean!
I hope it tasted better than the one Mr. Bean had!
upvoted

hahahaha, it definitely did!

You've got what it takes.

I totally agree with you... There's a lot of good yummilicious food... I don't think I will be a permanent vegetarian, but once a while I do go without meat... Just vegetables... To me, a balance diet should consist of meat and vegetables.
