What did the Romanescos ever do for us?
First of all, I want to apologize for the Monty Python pun, it was a stretch at best. Actually no, y'all can deal with it.
What's the deal with Romanesco? It's this amazing beautiful cauliflower alternative, yes it is basically cauliflower. It's like two cauliflowers shacked up while on acid and had a child. It's relatively cheap too, depending on the season and it has a beautiful natural shape.
The plate here is a bit of garlic roasted romanesco then pan-fried in butter and bacon, served with a purée of roasted orange peppers and goat cheese.
